I did think someone would pick up on that - I guess 'cos I have traveled a bit in Scotland myself and a) found a lot of folks really decent and friendly and b) I've seen tourists being treated so well by ordinary folk and c) Mum was in hotel industry for years and always was told by tourists how amazing / friendly they were finding their time in Scotland...

I know. I was jesting. I have a Scottish mother, but talk with a half-northern/half-posh accent and have spent many a time in Scotland and have had nae bother, and most of the time people are very friendly and good-humoured (genuinely self-deprecating and dark, unlike most scousers who just think they're funny).

It depends who I talk to. I have this horrible habit of copying people's accents, especially in Scotland after a wan or twae drams, ye ken?

Are you saying I'm posh or Northern? You sound dead posh on the phone, like.
