World Cup on TV in UAE

I know, I know...its been discussed before, but I've searched and searched and can't find the thread. (No, I wasn't paying attention--I'm standing at the back of the class right now.)

Can we just have one definitive solution how to watch at home in UAE.

1 If we need to buy a new card, what's it called, where do we buy it, how much will it cost?
2 Will the card work in the OSN box, or do we need a different box?

I only ask 1 or 2 questions a year here, so please be gentle...

All I know is that it's exclusively on Al Jazeera Sports. You need a card that will give you those channels.

if you're in Dubai the place to get the card is Technosat in Deira... that's where everyone we know has got it from... about 350 dhs all told. it should work in the OSN box.

I was at the eVision stand at Etisalat yesterday and they assured me that as I am already subscribed to all Al Jazeera channels I will get all of the games.

I have Jazeera sports 1 to about 10 I think and Jazeera HD. Are there any other Jazeera channels??

Thanks SB, any idea how to rescan a cable box? I know how to do it on Satellite but never found it on the cable box.

I think you need to rely on the muppets at EVision doing the rescan on their satellites, then adding the channel(s) to the package.

Expect it by the 2014 World Cup.

I have just spoke to OSN as i was told that if you live in a DU area you wont receive the world cup, this is true if your are a cable viewer as the entire building will be through Du but if you have a subscription directly with OSN (Dish not cable) then yes you can watch the world cup with an Al Jazeera card inserted into the OSN decoder

yes have a dish with osn. they have just changed our decoder to the new HD one, with a new card, as the card can only be read in that new box. but i have the old decoder which will accept an al jaz card.
