We "have to" fast? That's new to me..? :P

Last year we worked 7.45hrs instead of the usual 9.45hrs (with one hour break), this ramadan I'm jobless and will probably be homeless in about 2 weeks, so we'll see

We "have to" fast?

In the office, in front of Muslims, yes of course.

Some places provide you with a private room where you can go to eat/drink but it has to be subtle............

Yes, so we can take a brake, eat in a private room and get back to work, so we are not fasting now are we? We just need to be careful in front of muslims, that's all.

Other companies give all their employees, regardless of religion, reduced hours.

"Careful"?

No, you need to not eat or drink anything at all in front of them.

I disagree Dean, in my opinion and experience, we ask the muslims in our office if they mind if we eat in front of them.

That said, we only usually have a few. I would imagine it would be totally different in an office full of muslims..

Fair enough, but I am the only non-Muslim on the whole floor of my building (total = 54 people) so you see my dilemma..............

I have the same one. I am the only non-muslim and there is no eating or drinking anywhere in my workplace. REduced working hours does help though..
