Actually, when I think of it, the airport lounges that Emirates uses where it doesn't have it's own lounge are usually in that realm: Athens, Damascus, Rome, Amman, Entebbe, Djakarta, Beirut, Mancs and Brum previously, Bahrain, Jeddah, Nairobi, Colombo, Guangzhou.. all come to mind alas as fairly cruddy ones that I have used flying EK over the years. And I guess there's many more. If they are using the lounge I think they are using in Dublin, even though it's new, it's not much cop. Not many generic airport lounges are much good. Bangalore is a surprising exception, Jo'burg as I recall also (though that's going back many years). Changi of course.

Not when I was there in late 2008 - my list of airport lounges covers several years travel on EK (Millhouse can now tell you exactly how many) and alas my trip to Colombo was only once on holiday. I guess a few of those places I listed (ever so subtly) might have dedicated lounges now (as I mentioned, Mancs and Brum do as I've been in those later).
The Emirates management deal with Sri Lankan Airlines broke up famously acrimoniously a few years ago. Supposedly they refused to empty First class for the president's entourage who showed up unannounced at Heathrow one night (that's the president of the country, not of the airline). Suddenly the Emirates appointed CEO of Sri Lankan found his work permit was not renewed... I guess since then they have invested in their own facilities in Colombo (bit surprised they were able to get space at the airport).

Re: Work Travel
So far this year I've taken 66 flights and travelled 57,000 miles. Travel is every week, away 3-4 days a week.
Gets kinda tiresome.

Invitation Only - what it says on the tin: a discretionary (and discrete) level above Gold that can't be "earned" only offered to people Emirates considers very important (not necessarily frequent travellers, at least commercially). It's like BA Premier or Delta Flying Colonels to list the only other examples I know. You might spot their specially painted Land Rovers at the airport sometimes (providing a chauffeur service even if you're in economy).
