So far this year, 64 sectors for work. I think about another 20 sectors personal travel.

Most of the work long-hauls (mainly Dubai-Bangkok/Vietnam/Singapore) in business, the rest all down the back.

The rugby club is reasonably priced beer and if they have a function on it is busy and a good laugh. Mostly men though and the same ones that have been going there since mohammed was a lad.

The place is a shithole though

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a sector? Is that a flight, a journey (i.e. including a transit through a hub) or a return?

A one-way point-to-point flight with a single flight number (so the Emirates SIN-CMB-DXB flight is one sector if you don't get off in CMB).

SIN - CMB - DXB is a two sector flight. Each take off and landing is a sector (referred to as a 'leg' in the USA).

I didn't think "leg" and "sector" were the same.

LEG: The operation between a departure station and the next arrival station (non-stop)

SECTOR: see LEG SEGMENT (Sometimes referred to as CITY PAIR). The operation between board point and any subsequent off point within the same flight.

(My bolding...)

http://oagdata.com/help/jargon.aspx

Edited to add: IATA agrees with you. I should have said "segment".

The fact you're prepared to debate it suggests you fly too much ...

In last year, return trips US x4, UK x4, Other Europe x2, Asia x2, GCC -would guess around 3-4 return every two weeks.

Will look out for you guys at the airport. Agree with Millhouse that it is all a bit silly really once you add it up, but I do still have a thing for foxy flight attendants.

Since I arrived in Dubai I have taken 4 flights in the 9 years I have lived here.
3 to Cyprus and 1 to the UK.

That's 8 flights. Unless you swam back.

Maybe I wasn't clear... let's count 'take-offs'

Typical - 60odd take-offs this year means you are inline for about 90 for the full year. That's impressive/crazy .... unless you are a pilot.

I've started seeing some regulars on the Dubai-Istanbul commute - that's a bit of a worry.

Take off's are optional but landings are compulsory.

No work flights here but for the 4 1/2 years before I came here I flew from Southampton to Glasgow (then hire car to Prestwick) and return every week, up on a Monday back Friday, even cutting back to travelling up Tues and back Thurs wasn't fun. Part of the reason I came out here
Oh and no business class on a Flybe Dash 8 (Q400).

What about when I go to 'Nam. Take off in Dub. Take off in Doha. Land and take off (without leaving my seat) in Bankok.

I'm sure you will leave your seat and go and get a coffee in the gate at Bankok... you can even get wanked off there - sorry, a massage.

Unless that is work, it doesn't count.

Yeah, not so much fun... as I said, if you include personal flights I'm over 80 take-offs already. Then again, I once took four flights in three days from Vietnam to London and back over a weekend, just so I could wish the wife happy birthday in person.

I've heard the Sunday morning FlyDubai flight to Riyadh is hilarious. Half consultants and bankers, half labourers.

Yeah, that's why I said sectors (but apparently meant segments).

It's not work.

Still. I count it as two flights.
