I have heard about this as well, but always in the 'rumour' department, never directly from someone who's actually been charged or involved.
so how would that work, what would they charge you with if you helped someone after say a traffic accident that you are not otherwise involved with and that person dies in the end...surely it would be obvious that it's not your fault...
I have never seen any mention of it anywhere on infomation websites or books like the Dubai Explorer...

We have the same back home...
And two other examples to top things off:
1-If someone has a heart attack (or any other life threatening incident) and dies in front of your shop/doorstep, you go to jail...
2-If someone plunges from a balcony, suicide or otherwise, and lands on your car and dies, you go to jail...

No rumour...It's all true...
We have the same back home...
