Re: Wimbledoom
Andrew Barron Murray.
Three sets.
HE did it regardless of who his coach is or his mum or his best friend is.
A.M.A.Z.I.N.G
P.S.first two letters of Amazing : A.M.
Autonomy, shall we check back all the threads and the doubters?
Wtf did Sir Alex Ferguson say to him?
Murray described the advice from Sir Alex as 'gold dust'
Champion- totally deserving of the accolade. He won today cos he is possibly
the best tennis player in the world.
Dunblane, you are on the map for a different reason, bless those babies, you will not be forgotten now.
Andy,you are amazing,enjoy your success.

Re: Wimbledoom
When we all calm down, that will be seen as a truly great performance, destroying one of the all-time greats in straight sets............ any stats freaks know the last time Djokovic lost a five-setter in three straight? I think 2009 at the US Open v Federer, but I stand to be corrected...........

Re: Wimbledoom
We now see the angry face from Murray- literally, his facial expression has
changed. He did it against the moaning Pole and he did it today.
Clenched jaws and showing his teeth....'.hungry like a wolf'
The last piece of a champion's profile.

'For the first time in my life, I find myself hoping - praying - that there is a God. Those dear little children will need someone to comfort them. No further comment today. Normal service resumed tomorrow.'
I was swamped with goodwill messages - and threatened with the sack. Strange days.
Murray survived it (or at least avoided it) of course............ how history might have been different - and we would never have known.

Re: Wimbledoom
Anyway............ for toughing it out for nearly five hours in a magnificent semi-final v Djokovic, Juan Martin del Potro receives GBP 400,000......... Djokovic himself, having overcome JMdP before losing to Murray's inspired brilliance, pockets GBP 800,000..........
.................... while Marion Bartoli strolls through a comfortable final in less than an hour and a half against an out-of-form opponent to pocket GBP 1,150,000..........
Just saying.

You think we needed this to remember the Dunblane children? I've never forgotten - I used to write a daily Market Commentary jobby for my bank's clients, but the day after Dunblane I simply wrote:
'For the first time in my life, I find myself hoping - praying - that there is a God. Those dear little children will need someone to comfort them. No further comment today. Normal service resumed tomorrow.'

He is a young man who has battled deamons from an early age(those memories and probably the divorce of his parents ) as is his opponent today, coming from the Serbian mountains of former Yugoslavia.
Neither guy on court today comes from a cushy background, although young, they have been exposed to gritty times in life unlike many of their contemporary sportsmen peers, particularly in the field of soccer...
Both are exemplary role models for young people.
I don't think Murray would ever deny being a part or being affected by the horrors of Dunblane,I can't quite understand why you are offended by my reference to this.
And sorry, what you did that day really has no impact on the survivors.
What Murray did today and his association with Dunblane will for sure.

Re: Wimbledoom
Is there a specific quota of how many times it is apropo to reprise how evil the world can be.?Did you watch the interview with the new Men's Wimbledon Champion when he was asked about the day Robert Hamilton massacred those kids? It is a day clearly ingrained in Murray's memory.

I wasn't trying 'that day' to influence or affect the survivors - I was writing something to a readership of overpaid pampered idiots who normally cared about nothing except themselves and their next inflated pay packet.........
No argument anyway - I'm as proud of Murray as you are, for whatever reason.

Re: Wimbledoom
Sporting legend. Mind blowing match. Many rallys of classic status. Suffice to say this was sport history. So so very pleased for Murray.
