why would you...
...pay to have a 4 digit number plate here?? i had no idea anyone paid for a plate apart from the single/double digit ones...but someone i know just got one. i can't see the point, it's not like the number means anything...
mind you, i have a pet hate for private number plates at home...especially the ones where they can't afford to get a proper one, so they get one which looks like the word if you read carefully...you know what i mean, like M1 5TY (for misty) etc etc...
that said, if someone was prepared to stump up the £260,000 for CAT1 then i might think about putting it on my car, lol...

Re: why would you...
Or they just have a shit load of money and have bought it. A business man was in the paper recently after having bought the number '2' for a stupid amount of money!

Re: why would you...
I looked at getting 'CHR1S' when I bought my car but the plate was worth more than I paid for my car! So...... they got told where to shove it

Re: why would you...
I don't really know. I would presume that they get handed down from generation to generation or they hear about them going up for auction and buy them.
