i think we all know that speeding fines dont work here as a deterrent, heres some cracking examples

why have punishments that actually stop the road insanity here when you can make $100 million dollars instead

Plus a fine is not a deterrent to someone that has shed-loads of money anyway.

Even confiscation of their car wouldn't have much effect, they probably have 3 or 4 more at home anyway, or can just go out and buy another one.

I heard (maybe BS) that there is a trend amongst locals to just hand over the car when the fines are more than the value of the car...

Over 5k AED in one year or single offence at + x% of speedlimit - Prison 1 week
Second time 1 month
Third time - Execution

That should sort it sharp'ish

oh they do work...my fines totalled 8,000 last year, and i'm bloody careful now...that was 2 pairs of shoes i lost out on, lol...

It works for sure, I got done three times in one week on the quietest road in Dubai which the twats have set at 60k, and everyone thinks it's 80. I hate the sneakiness of it, hidden cameras etc
