McCallan is a nice drop, as is Talisker - for single malt you pretty much pay for what you get, spent £30 and you'll get something decent for him.

Balvenie however is sublime stuff..
Dear god really?? I'm going to become your new best mate, any whiskies like that you can pass my way.

They are all an aquired taste though, the missus bought me a £75 bottle of single malt and it was rough as a badgers ringpiece.

Really smooth whisky and of course its Irish:sunglasses:

Ignore millhouse he is more of a WKD or Smirnoff Ice drinker
It's Irish and therefore has no place in this thread or in any discussion regarding the water of life

Its funny you use a direct Gaelic translation to describe whiskey Uisce beatha is the word you are looking for :sunglasses:

By the way Whiskey (the thread title) is Irish and Whisky is I believe what the scottishers call it.

God no. I can't bear touch the stuff these days. Too many evenings hanging around backstage with dodgy musicians.

I used to work in a bar in Aberdeen that had a good selection of malt whiskeys and by far the most popular was the 12 year old Balvenie Doublewood.

But each to their own....

Highland Park 1998 (from Orkney!) is also a very smooth and palatable single malt.
