im no kelly ozborne, thank ****, but 2 years ago i was over 100KG's..

Now i hang around 87/88KG's and feel and look all the better for it.

Forget surgery/botox etc, there is no substitute for exercise for body and mind.

i think its the ethos of putting in the graft and getting the results.

You can tell she has lost loads of weight. That thing on her wrist now looks just stupid.

lot of photoshop going on there methinks.

unfortunately for her and judging by her family body type, she will be back to overweight quickly i'd imagine.

Concept 2 and weights. If you could only have one piece of exercise equipment, it would have to be the Concept 2.

Damn I wrote a long reply which disappeared :frown:

anyhow former motocross and enduro (off road motorcycle) racer here. When I was fit last year, I trained to heart rates basically on the cardio machines, plus weights maybe 3 times a week.
The heart rate training culminates in being able to run the toughest setting on the crosstrainer or treadmill or rower basically without exceeding your maximum heart rate or close to it. Its great for sports where you need big stamina and the ability to recover quickly from a big exertion.
I did some training for a year with a buddy getting ready for paris-dakar and his regime was nuts, its funny even if you think you are fit someone else is just off the charts in comparison.
now i dont do anything due to the lack of facilities in yemen which is a pity as the high altitude would be a great advantage. I am about 85kg now at 188cm but have a nice round little pot belly starting to show :p

Commander- Ok it isn't the biggest pool in the world! But when i went home I used the local pool which is 25meters and ai still did 100 but it took me just over an hour sO I gues mine is about 20 meters. and I only do breast stroke due to an ongoing ear problem so front crawl is a nono for me :(

When i trained on my own i would do max 1 hour at a time on the bike. With a group we think nothing of a 3-4 hour ride. Next weekend we have a cycle from Lime Tree in Dubai to Al Aqaa in Fujairah. its approx 220km.

I could never do that on my own (well i could i guess) but in a group its a whole lot easier.

My point being, if you can get with like minded people do it..

i could never sit on a rower for 30mins that is pretty hardcore. If you enjoy that, build up the time, slower for longer.

Only way I can do 30 mins is at half rate, but max resistance. After that, yep, it's just as dull, but it was one of the only ways I found of burning fat whilst still being low impact. I loved cycling when I was younger, and if it wasn't for the drivers here, would probably do it again.

it doesnt matter how far you go or the size of the pool. a 1 hour swim session is really really great. Well done and keep it up!

Do it again, the drivers here are no worse than in the UK when it comes to cycling.

I actually find them more accommodating as there is an element of novalty factor.

Get a bike, get to the autodrome for the safe cycling, do that for a while, they also have warm up rides on Fridays in Dubai then get to Wolfi's rides on a Friday for 80K+ group rides.

Warning: its addictive. I have a shitbox of a filthy car, but my bikes are absolutely spotless. They have their own room in the house. Its where most expats locate a maid.:D
