Ok folks.

As you may know or tell. I am really (addictive) into fitness. I just want to find out who does what, where, when, how often

What's your routine?

Really interested to know who shares common interests.

I seriously believe that in 2010 there will not be one poster on here that does absolutely no exercise.

Oh and I'm not touting for PS's job. I'm just curious

I have a personal trainer 3 times a week - mostly weights - he is actually trying to kill me, I sweat cobs for the entire session, I swim for about 5 hours a week 100 lengths a time, (Im a water baby) and I try to go on the treadmill every other day to my training for 20 minutes however that happens less often than it should- the treadmill is my nemesis.

And after all that I still have an arse that can cause an eclipse.

The treadmill is really difficult though. Not physically but mentally. Its the right time of year, try running outside. Start with a small time and build up. Don't concentrate to distance, concentrate on time.(Which is what you seem to do. Bravo)

Your swimming is brilliant and puts me to shame. 100 lengths. **** me. That is seriously hardcore and please be really proud of that.

Assume your trainer is giving you light weights lots of reps for toning. Again great stuff.

As for your arse, it is what it is, but regardless. Inside (your heart) is benifiting for what you are doing, its a simple equation...calories in V calories out.

Keep up what you are doing and there will only be success.

Don't over cook it looking for short term success though.

All the best.

I must admit starting training made me alot happier here, was a gym member back in the UK and used it about 5 times a year- absolute waste of money, but i wasn't able to keep a routine as my work schedule was manic to put it mildly, so having the time here its about time i got my arse in gear and i have no excuse. The treadmill comes back to smoking- I get puffed in minutes, my trainer is fab though and is pushing me to do it- building it up slowly and trying to give up the fags. Trying to overcome my phobia of running. I always feel like such a dick in the gym though- its much better here as my gym is empty most of the time. I like the rowing machine though I'm not a big drinker but when I do drink i drink! my downfall is my awful eating habits- am looking into the food companies that do all your meals for you as I can't be bothered to cook for myself (and the fact I don't have an oven) have soo many issues with food its just not funny! and a sweet tooth and a tendancy to comfort eat.

Weight wise Im actually quite strong for a girl- thats years of serious shopping for you!

I'll get there eventually but dont think it will ever be easy for me!

yup kittycat, me and mrs spugsy all have teh same trainer - he's very godo and pretty much kills me every time.

And apart from a dodgy knee I play 5 a side twice a week and also go for the odd run, but to be honest that can be pretty boring.

Would still love to get a bike but I saw someone knocked off one a few weeks ago and he was in a bad way.

I agree C, treadmill is a nightmare, so I switched to rowing, try and get in half an hour as often as poss. Wish it was 3 times a week, but barely get enough time to do some weights at the moment. I've always had a massive issue with getting the impetus to do cardio, whats the secret?

i wouldnt let that put you off. There was a Dubai cyclist killed a few weeks ago out on a group ride. Unfortunately that is one of the risks, but really it is the same worldwide. My coach was killed last July in a biking incident in Abu Dhabi.

That said, we are out in large numbers all the time and (touching loads of wood) its been relatively event free.

I seriously recommend cycling. its great for the cardio and easy on the joints.

Go to the cycling evenings at the Autodrome or Yas for AD people for an insight.

There's an App for that!

MyNetDiary (computer and iPhone) will log your calorie intake and your burn and make you want to keep the two in sync (as commander says).

Don't know how accurate it is though....

i basically hate exercise, but can't believe how bloody fantastic you feel after doing it, so i make myself do it...i swim every day, do a cardio body sculpt class on a sunday with the maddest woman in the world, a spin/boxercise sesh on a monday...and then there is the nightmare that is patsy stoned on a thursday...

it's amazing how rubbish you feel when you haven't been working out...but to be honest, if i was a skinny malinky, i don't reckon i'd ever go near a gym...

for me it is group participation that keeps me motivated. I am in a cycling group and triathlon group and we train, compete and socialise together. It gets to the extent that if i am not at the start line for a training ride at 0530 on a Friday i feel very guilty and actually get SMS from friends asking if im okay

When i trained on my own i would do max 1 hour at a time on the bike. With a group we think nothing of a 3-4 hour ride. Next weekend we have a cycle from Lime Tree in Dubai to Al Aqaa in Fujairah. its approx 220km.

I could never do that on my own (well i could i guess) but in a group its a whole lot easier.

My point being, if you can get with like minded people do it..

i could never sit on a rower for 30mins that is pretty hardcore. If you enjoy that, build up the time, slower for longer.

its the endorphin rush post exercixe. It is a great feeling and i guess what keeps us going.

If you were a skinny malinky as you put it, you would still do it for the rush and feel good factor.

Am seeing swimming as a common theme here, which is great. I love swimming and it is really really good exercise.

Still bowled over by KC. 100 lengths..sweet jesus.

ill look for that, i really love all the gizmo's, I have a Polar RX800 that i use. That tells me my calories burnt etc. It basis it on my inputed data (height and weight etc) and my HR during the exercise.
Its a good training aid and it is all downloaded to the PC so you can view the workout. Great for motivation and for looking at a snapshot of your training
