Thanks Scamp - I am actually pretty happy with singledom its only when it comes to planning holidays or retirement that it gets a bit depressing, who wants to go on holiday on their own?

Although if i am going to be single and retired, my cliche side says the side of a hill in Tuscany to be a writer. No doubt it will actually be a council house in hackney with a 2 bar fire and a tartan blanket.

And only ever wear slippers, day in day out. I will come and visit you still for a cake and sherry.

If the next few decades go along plainly then Heaven, if the go with some pizazz then Hell. On current form, Purgatory.

Does one start to like sherry at a particular age?

Far from the worst option. I'd rather live with cats than most men.

At the risk of persecution - who plans retirement before mid-life? You're not that old are you?

Holidays - some of the best I've had have been with mates. First holiday with a mrs was last summer. Surely you've got friends who can tolerate you for a week?

I like sherry - the dry as well as the old lady sweet stuff. I can't prepare a roast dinner without a glass of sherry. They just go together.

Does this mean I am old?

Haha that is true too.

Also going on the relationship drama that seems to happen around some of my friends, i'm glad i'm not involved. I've conveniently forgotten how traumatic being in a relationship is.

Goddamn evolution, it makes you forget the bad stuff but remember how good sex is!
