I quite fancy Malaysia. France would be high on my list ( & I dreamt I moved there last night) but I'm not willing to pay their taxes.
With your intimate knowledge of retirement planning, please tell me you are not planning to retire to an EU/Eurozone country............... Cyprus was just the thin end of the 'wedge' (as it were).............

I think my previous post tells you my answer...

Mind you, not all of Europe going to implode.

My dreams are frequently odd, but this one included having to buy cat food with a tiny can being €11! That's enough to put anyone off.

I had hoped to retire to the Big Rock Candy Mountain but I was refused a settlement visa, so I am on a Scottish island.

The Marquesas.
First aware of it from a 1970s NatGeo magazine I read in the 90s. Came across as idilic , quiet and away from the mad mad world.

Hmmm I have absolutely no idea where or how i'm going to retire. I've only just managed to get to a position where i'm not robbing peter to pay paul and scrabbling furiously to survive without major debt. I'm also single with no prospect of not being in the forseeable future so to me looking at retirement is just a little depressing. I do know that if i can possibly help it, i won't be retiring in the UK.

Cue violins? lol

I've been once, maybe twice. But too young to remember it.

You sound like my sister. Chin up, who needs a bloke? When you realise you don't...a decent one will appear.
