I find this ironic, part funny and part sad. When will these people learn?

Well atleast with this chap you know he truly really believed in his faith, and wasn't a charlatan using religion to fleece people or one of those inviduals who proclaim faith in a theistic religion not because they believe in god but because religion to them is tribal identity.

Red does not come across as someone who really believes in an all powerfull god; after reading his posts I have come to the conclusion he doesn't actually believe in the divine/super natural aspects of Islam but claims to for tribal ethnic identity reasons.

How about this: http://m.phys.org/news/2014-02-misco...-religion.html

My fave bit: Nearly 60 percent of evangelical Protestants and 38 percent of all surveyed believe "scientists should be open to considering miracles in their theories or explanations."

At first reading that sounds ridiculous. However, if you wind back just a couple of hundred years, maybe less, much of what we have, know and do today would be considered miraculous. There are still questions about our world that are unanswered, and many about the universe. Hopefully, with the spread of knowledge, what Einstein referred to as “childish” beliefs will be dispelled, but unfortunately it appears to be a race between science and indoctrination, and it’s about neck-and-neck at the moment.

I think that's the point tho, we're not a couple of hundred years ago and these are opinions of folk from the here and now not waaay back then. I'm not anti religion but seriously WTF. How do these people live life on a day to day basis?

Scientists may not understand something but they will keep on at it until they work it out. Religious folk will just say God did it. Easier and less hassle but it's not exactly what pushes the envelope!

I like this bit:

"He had previously survived a bite that cost him most of the middle finger on his right hand. Instead seeking medical attention for the gruesome injury, he let it rot to black, exposing a quarter inch of bone before it broke off.
He kept the stub of the finger in a glass jar for his wife."

She must have been well chuffed with that!
