What's your leaving date?

Assuming I'm not fired before (still on the cards), my plan is to leave in 2023. Yours?

Show your workings.

If I can survive another year in my current location, taking me to June 2019, I'm thinking of moving further east towards Hong Kong for a year or two just for the hell of it. From there a move to west coast USA, perhaps San Francisco before back to the emerald isle semi retired by 2023.

Next year and into semi-retirement, unless I'm lured to either Head Office (Seoul) for a stint, or another project in the Philippines (each of which holds both certain dangers and benefits).

Already left, April 2018 for me. Out of Qatar and out of the workplace, marvelous :)

Dependent on having a job and enjoying the ME lifestyle, Dec 2023 - I hit 40, Qatar world cup would be over and hopefully have a property portfolio of 4 - These will be on mortgage but the rent will pay it off. Its basically my retirement plan.

Plan would than move to Canada or back to the UK.

I thought that after going, then I saw the rent prices.
Latest trip to Singapore made that look like a bloody good move
.
We're quite happy and settled here. Savings pot is building, so can't complain too much.
Should probably chuck some of it away on a wedding though, then see. Depends what happens with my work and how well we can afford to stay if she were to be impregnated with global future leaders from my (probably) super sperm....although free schooling will help.

Definitely post 2022 though, may as well be here for the shit show of a world cup.

I guess it's all relative to your current location but the rent in HK would be a decrease compared to Mumbai. At one point my rent here was $6,000 USD per month  Luckily covered by the company but still completely extortionate.

Sometime between October and next May. Relocation home is confirmed, timing is down to the status of a project here. Either I go back in October and fly back for periodic visits, or I stay through May and the handover, while taking on additional works from the UK office. Either way there's many QA flights in my future.

My money is on January for the permanent move.

Well done - that's a good exit and one, I think, you need.

I'd rather be based where the active work is and fly back to visit the winding down work.

It doesn't make sense to be remote from the new and future ongoing works, plus being absent from the winding down stuff means you can effectively control what is required through visits. As long as you are based there it will keep trundling along never to fully finish.

Yep. That's why money is on January for the permanent move.

Am quite keenly looking forward to it! I'm probably the only person on this forum who genuinely likes living in the UK.

You get a shoebox in a nice area of HK for the same money...

I think you can do better in HK. Our HO is there, I'm back and forth there occasionally and nobody is paying that kind of money as far as I'm aware. I could be wrong though.
