Thinking it's about time we celebrated the start of the weekend with a glass or two of very cold Sauvignon Blanc. Today this will be accompanied by a plate of cured white anchovies (boquerones) and water biscuits.

Love boquerones but they're hard to find here.

Fairly simple to do yourself if you can find the raw, fresh anchovies. Have been able to get them from Carrefour (here in Muscat) fairly regularly so could be available elsewhere. When we can't get the fresh fish we can sometimes find packs of prepared, marinated anchovies in the chiller cabinets where they sell packaged fish portions next to the wet fish section.

I can only ever seem to find ones in jars / tins in oil not vinegar....never seen the fresh ones.

Then whats the deal? Soak in white wine?? vinegar for a while? Any spices?

Literally anything....but at the pub they have popcorn, which is alright I guess.

If I'm at home and it's snack time then any sort of crisp and I'm yours.
