Not sure whats going on after the the Brum-Edgbaston.

Total humiliation, 2007 all over again and I travelled to the other side of the world to watch it.

Re: Whats going on Lads......its ashes
Look at the stats, as at close of play last night:
Batting:
Centuries: Eng 1, Aus 7
Players with average above 40: Eng 2, Aus 6
Batsmen with 300 runs or more: Eng 1, Aus 3
Bowling:
Bowlers with 12 wickets or more: Eng 2, Aus 3
Bowlers who have taken 5 wickets in an innings: Eng 3, Aus 1 (superb!!!)
Bowlers with average under 35: Eng 2, Aus 4.
Be honest - who would you rather have... Anderson and Onions? Or Hilfenhaus and Siddle?
Quite.
They'll do us at The Oval too, to win it 2-1.

Many are asking the same questions
There are so many unanswered questions.
There are ghosts somewhere there is a beginning(head) and a end (tail) but the middle is missing
Lets hope going south brings out the impossibleand the unbelievable

The english moaned when they were getting hammered in the first test. The comments on the BBC live text thing were full of english saying how ashamed they were and what a pathetic effort the english team were putting up.
Then a draw came along out of nowhere that essentially was like a victory given the state they were in.
Second test the english won emphatically on a ground they hadn't beaten the aussies in since almost 56BC and the press / fans were heaping praise.
4th test you get the hammering you should have received in the 1st and all of sudden the team is villified again.
As far as I can tell the aussies have been reasonably positive the whole way through. They'll win the last test (weather permitting) and rightly so.
It was always a five test series. It's 1 all......if the english team is representative of their supporters then they've given up at the finish line.
oops....did i post this on a british forum...

Well based on events so far I don't have a good feeling about the last test - but if the worst happens and you happen to be in the company of a victorious Aussie or two you can always bring this into the conversation

The under arm incident....
"the most disgraceful event to ever happen on a cricket pitch!"

Re: Whats going on Lads......its ashes
Hopefully, once this Test is over, we can consign Andrew Flintoff to memory. I got tired of the injury-prone pedallo stealer a long time ago.
Let's face it - his Test career has been mostly a let-down. Career batting average 32, career bowling average 33 - nothing special. Whenever people speak highly of him, they usually use words like 'talismanic', 'inspirational', etc, without much of a reference to his skills - and with good reason. Botham's averages were 33 and 28 respectively, considerably better, especially as a bowler.
Not sure why the art of the all-rounder (with one magnificent exception) seems to have died out. In the 70s and 80s, there were Hadlee, Botham, Marshall, Imran Khan, Kapil Dev and Clive Rice (who was wonderful, although banned from Test cricket due to the SA boycott).
The exception of course is Jacques Kallis (10,000+ runs at average 54, 250+ wickets at average 31 - almost Gary Sobers-ish).

Too right. When the game is good he is British when the chips are down he is South african.
Not sure if the press can make up their minds
