what's with...
...the seeming new craze for matt cars...i've just seen matt black and matt luminous yellow ones on the beach road, and over the last few weeks orange/yellow/loads of grey/black ones...quite a few have weird coloured tyre rims as well...
i think they look awful...is it just here, or are people getting these back home too...?

oh I quite like them...it's been going on for a long time though!
there's an all matt black (and I mean all black) FJ cruiser that looks really nice...
talking about weird, I saw a Range Rover yesterday that had Range Stormer on the back, it was a 2 door version, white, with red leather interior...must be some special edition/custom made jobby...

Matt cherry red X6 looks evil. The FJ Stealth was a special edition in matt black, but I haven't seen one.
Saw a chromed / mirror-finish Bentley in Al Khobar earlier in the week. Gross.

I saw a few in London last time I was home, personally I don't like them- it looks like an undercoat to me.

Thanks, yes, it does look nice on the bike. I think lime green or orange on a car looks odd not matter if it is shiny or matte.

Thinking about the Range Stormer. It looks like it used to be owned by the Crown Prince of Dubai

Matt finishes are getting really popular, to the extent that BMW and Mercedes now offer them as optional finishes. They are obviously paint and not vinyl wraps like the rest of them. Had to laugh when I stopped one of our valeters from polishing the matt finish on a car at work one day!

As Guy said, Matt paint is the latest craze that came from the US. The majority of the cars you will see here are wrapped by companies like Foil-a-Car in Al Quoz. This is a good option because when you're bored of it, just peel it off and you have your pristine factory paint job still in place.
Hummer also had a H2 in Matt black, looks really mean. Again, that's paint though, not wrap. OEM vehicles won't be sold with wrap on because of warranty. It doesn't last long and begins to peel and lift itself after a while.

Nope. The Range Stormer was a concept, that was then turned into reality by West Coast customs. It was supposed to be a one off for a Prince here, but I've seen at least one other.
