I guess they can't make them but ask him out of respect, I don't see it as a bad thing.

No doubt the Mail will though.

Why are they "entering places of worship"? Cannot remember that last time at Sunday Service when the police dropped by.

there generally isnt a risk that during that service an extremist nutter is teaching disenfranchised kids how to strap a bomb to their waist and detonate it in a crowded place

Is that a generalization, stereotype or personal opinion?

I can imagine Muslim Police Officers on Jumeirah Beach stripping down to their Speedos in deference to our western culture.

fact i'm afraid.

There are unfortunately a number of extreme radicals within the UK who are more than happy to preach from the book of terrorism within certain british mosques. Abu Hamza being a prime example

to my knowledge we havent had any preaching of terrorism within british churches for a couple of hundred years now

Surely, not all Mosques are fanatical. I am just wondering what gives the police the "right" to enter? Are they not considered private property, would a warrant not be needed?

i didnt say all i implied that there was a risk of some.
i'd imagine the right to enter is the same as under any other place, ie the belief that something is happening inside that shouldnt be

I really am not being personal, just really interested in how they are allowed to enter private property. I would have thought there would need be a warrant based on legitimate information.

not taken personally.

if a man is beating the crap out of his wife and the neighbours call the police i dont think they wait for a warrant before they enter to stop him, presumably it would be similar. or if they receicve a tip regarding terrorism i'd assume that the terrorism act would allow them to enter without a warrant

Surely the fact that the doors are open and they are inviting people to attend is "right" enough. Never heard of someone needing a warrant to go into a church and attend a service, why would they need one to go into a mosque and do the same?

but non-muslims can't enter mosques here, can they (apart from jumeirah mosque)...so presumably any tom, dick and harry can't just wander in...
