George often used to disappear and we'd find him having a 'kick-around' with the local kids in the street. I also met the Pele who is charming. When I met Muhammed Ali he was in the early stage of Parkinsons so wasn't as sharp as he had been. I met Frankie Dettori in the gym at the Sheraton in Abu Dhabi.

I met Wilfred Thesiger in Abu Dhabi when his books were being published by Motivate.

Manfred Man was our neighbour when I was a kid and lived in London and my friend's Dad was an actor. Alfie Bass used to go to the same restaurant as my grandparents who lived in Elstree near the film studios.

They used to have Intercon playhouses in Dubai and I met Geoffrey Palmer and Derek Nimmo, and I also met Bob Geldof when he came over for the film festival a couple of years ago.

I met Sheikh Mohammed in the lift in Emirates Towers and he was very friendly and chatty.

OMG I would have loved to have met Thesiger.Did he say anything to you?

All fairly random, there is more...

- one of these claims is false.

- Can make milk come out my eye and make my eye whistle
- Have an original contract signed by all the Sex Pistols and Malcom McLaren
- Have a uni-cycle and can juggle 5 clubs
- Have been mistaken as the lead singer from Green Day 100's of times
- Have managed a Mercury Music nominated act
- Have been been paint splattered by Jesus Jones
- Have got romantic with Samantha Mumba
- Have been threatend to be sued by Ray Davies from the Kinks
- Have bumped into Thom Yorke wearing exactly the same clothes as him, with the same haircut and being the same size as him. We laughed...

At first I was a bit tongue tied because I was so excited and gabbled a bit, but then we started talking about his health and then about his travels through the Empty Quarter. I also met Bin Kabina and Bin Ghubaisha and various male members of their families.

Great, it was just great. And afterwards of course I thought of lots of questions I wished I'd asked him.

Oh..but at least you got the chance to meet him...no matter that you didn't do the Robin Day Question Time. His Mom would have expired by longtimes then.................seemed to be his only yardstick in life: what K thought of his adventures.Much deeper than the regular Oedipus too.

Did you read all of his books - I only read Arabian Sands but was obsessed by it for about 18 months and took it everywhere and kept re-reading it - weird now that I think about it.

I'm the opposite, I sped read Arabian Sands and March Arabs and tripped on his auto& biog's- A Life of Choice& Maitland's biog- for me Maitland was the best.
I did the same with Schliemann......his de facto account bored me silly but his biog was enchanting. His wife actually discovered the treasure.
Methinks I'm a hopeless romantic

I was an extra in Boon...

I've hypnotised people who have written for the Sunday Times and The Sun (but not about that, about politics and Big Brother)...

My friend's comment about me running the London Marathon was published in big letters on the BBC website...

I worked for a company owned by Ernest Saunders, only met him once though...

I was lectured by Andy Hopper, one of the founders of Acorn, the company that made the BBC Micro. He has an airstrip in his back garden

(he saw me going mental at the front of the stage and he took a liking to me and having bright cherry red hair at the time must have tickled his fancy ;0) he gave me his email address but i'm not really into the grisly bear-long unwashed hair-old enuff to be my dad goth rocker, so that never lasted.

>I thought I saw Graham Norton in Covent garden one summer, although it wasn't him...damn!
