What will happen to him?

Dubai: A British tourist who racked up traffic fines of Dh170,000 for speeding has also accumulated thousands of dirhams in rental charges, it emerged on Wednesday.
The co-owner of the Dubai-based car rental from where the 26-year-old tourist rented the Dh1.3 million Lamborghini Huracan on July 30 told Gulf News that he [tourist] needs to pay an additional Dh21,000 in rental charges.
Fooked? How long in prison? What do you think will happen to him?

Re: What will happen to him?
My money is on he's already skipped the country and was using a false (or someone else's) passport for the rental.
I drove past the V Hotel this morning and can confirm that the car is still parked outside.
I am very surprised that the rental company is using the press to try and get the money; why don't they just file a police case and get him arrested? I suspect something up with the paperwork ??

The alternative is a stupid kid who got over his head and is panicking and in hiding because he can't cough up the money. I can easily see something like this happening.
Your comment about the rental company and not filing a police case is a good one. There's something else going on we don't know about. Maybe they can't file a police case because they know they don't have the right passport? Or something like that.

The car rental company let him take a vehicle like that away with only 2 days rental paid? They didn't require a huge charge against his credit card to cover incidents exactly like this?

IIRC, they can only register a criminal case against him if he bounces a cheque. Otherwise, it's a civil case where the police will not get involved.

They'd go get him if they could. I would put in the possibility that the perpetrator is a spoiled rich young adult whose parents do a lot of business in Abu Dhabi/Dubai and have powerful friends of their own in the Gulf, which (1) ensured access to such an expensive car for the "young tourist" on such favourable terms and (2) precludes the car company from pursuing him through normal legal channels. In this scenario, a little point-and-shame in the local paper is OK as a way to express displeasure and let everyone know it better not happen again.

Decent call on drug dealer especially as the V does have a certain reputation as a “recreation” destination.
