Of course the main (only?) cause of AIDS relates to HIV!!

So, the website shoudl actually say HIV and not AIDS.

Amazing. If you click on the 'full article link' it list more info. Under parent cause of death' (whatever that is supposed to mean) it lists Assassination in ways which appear natural

And who knew that a Chechen separatist was a cause.

I suspect that the website has some kind of automatic trawling of other websites, electronic papers etc.

There's a list of sources, most of which seem reputable.

So, an article that says "More people in country X have AIDS due to war " gets interpreted as "war causes AIDS", when actually it'd be the lack of healthcare availablity which means HIV is undertreated and therefore progresses to AIDS...along with increased lawlessness -> rape ->HIV->AIDS

It's currently saying that "Manuela" is a cause of AIDS, which I'm sure she'll be pleased about.

It does look as if it's just an automated list, cos under "treatment for Manuela" it comes up with "Tobacco"... :huh:

Sorry but I have several friends and family members who have contracted HIV from dirty needles back home. It's anything but a humourous topic.

I suppose it's hardly worth pointing out that the thread was merely a reference to a stupid website that, as someone pointed out, probably just trawls the web for key words.

I agree that HIV/AIDS is a serious topic, which was why I thought a website that tells us it's caused by Jews or magnetic fields was reason enough to highlight. Whether that constitutes 'humour' is I suppose a matter of opinion.

I heard a whisper a few years back that HIV is *apparently a strange combo of a kind of leukaemia and an animal virus that *some believe could only have been spliced in a lab. Interesting scenario.
