Agreed, but I really like mussels. Not here though, well, from Belgian Beer Cafe, they're rancid.

Problem is that mussels are a cold water mollusc, there ain't that much cold seawater around here so they need to be flown in, are always frozen and generally shit.

The last ones I had there were good, but I agree that supplies here can be below par. Does the Warehouse at the Airport meridian still do mussels? They used to be really good.

Lobster here is also usually rubbish as they are usually those Omani ones with a texture like cotton wool. Best lobster is from NE USA. Those lobster rolls! *drools*

Yep, yep, yep.

Still, I can live without them and have as something to look forward to when not in the sandpit.

they would do me, going to a new Cajun place tonight, will be interesting to see what their seafood is like and where it is sourced etc. Crawfish is a freshwater fish so I am guessing it will be frozen or imported fresh.

Nice

Had them fresh for the 2nd time in my life last week--still over-rated and pointless. Mind you, deep fried in breadcrumbs, now you're talking...

But not lobsters - where's the claws?

Still prefer big prawns personally - much more flavour.

Spiny Lobster - Spiny lobsters have no claws, have a harder shell and have very large antenna. The two main regions that support spiny lobsters are the California coast and in the Caribbean. Because spiny lobsters have no claws, most of the meat is contained in the lobster tails. Because of this, spiny lobsters are most often sold live locally or usually harvested just for the lobster tail. Spiny lobsters are typically warm water lobsters.

Spiny lobsters, also known as langouste or rock lobsters, are a family (Palinuridae) of about 60 species of achelate crustaceans, in the Decapoda Reptantia. Spiny lobsters are also, especially in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and The Bahamas, sometimes called crayfish, sea crayfish or crawfish, terms which elsewhere are reserved for freshwater crayfish.

Maybe bahtat, but a lobster to me, is the pic i posted earlier.

Why let the scientific names etc. get in the way?

Reminds me of the Crocodile Dundee scene, "Knife? That's not a knife".
