WHAT Digital Camera?!
 

Wanted to buy a digitalcamera, currently have a Fuji FinePix S5700, it takes great pics but the thing is just too damn bulky to take out all the time plus im always away on busines and would be great to have a camera to take pics as i travel.

Went to a few places to look at Camera's in Dubai but the choice here is quite extensive.

Looked at a few review sites in the UK but the ones they suggest getting are hardly available over here!

Wanted to spend max 250 GBP. Ideally the cheaper the better.

Want something that takes good pictures.

Any photographer guru's out there can help?

at 250 notes, that'll rule out SLR :D

http://dpreview.com/ that's worth a gander to see what suggestions there are...I've not looked for a camera in a while so can't really help these days, though I do like Canon personally.

I have a canon 550 and it was a lot less than 250 uk and takes great pics, although not very fast, but if you dont want it for taking pics in quick succession its great, can I suggest you pick a few cameras you like the look of and do a search on google for reports on them

Canon Ixus 80 IS, compact and great pictures (my wife has her in pink). Much better than the bulky Canon Powershoot series.

compact...yes i have been looking at the reviews but allot of them arent sold over here or i cant find them.

And every time i go into Carefour they just tell me what special offers they have..

We bought our 10 year old the Sony Cypershot for Christmas and it's a great little camera. (We've got a Canon EOS 400D which is a good camera, but an SLR, not compact.)

I've had 2 of them and they've been great, I got myself one of these last time I was back home, you can use it underater, no sand or owt can get it, its shockproof - its good but wish I'd got something else to be honest....

dpreview is great site. I had a Canon Powershot and also a Sony and both were very good. Powershot has a lot of programmable features which can improve your shots.

I moved to Sony DSLR the A-700 which is great camera...

Personal pref. is Sony or Canon....
