What is DIFC like?
I have been offered a job in DIFC. I said I would never take a job there as it is quite far from home and means I can't do the school run. However, it is a fantastic job with a huge multinational company and a good salary so I am very tempted.
Do any of you work at DIFC? Can you tell me what it's like and what the commute is like if you live at the other end of Dubai?
Thanks.

Re: What is DIFC like?
Mrs has worked in DIFC for years and loves it. Nice vibe about the place, plenty of high quality places to grab food and coffee, outdoor areas especially good in winter. Parking pass is a big advantage as getting the shuttle bus from the overflow parking can be a pain. commute from mirdif before rush hour is about 20 mins on way back can be upto an hour depending on how many pricks have crashed. elsewhere in town ive no idea but i know a ton of folk who work in difc live in business bay area for ease
having seen most of the usual work areas in town, I'd rate DIFC as my favorite

Re: What is DIFC like?
I'm so excited. We can go for mid morning lattes, lunch, afternoon tea, after work drinks...
Yes, I'm here. It's a cool place to work, nice buzz to it - although nothing like London.
Positive -
1) loads of (in Spug's words) quality fanny
2) Easy commute in and out. 28mins to Villa de la Millhouse in the Retches. 40mins back due to traffic, a slightly longer route and some lights etc.
3) Metro next door
4) Loads of food options, but they are pricey
5) I'm here, we can go for lattes
6) You can walk to the stables (in winter anyway)
Negatives -
1) None really. But, make sure you get parking - spaces are around 30k AED/ year under the gate and 20k in the village. Parking nearby isn't really an option.

If you were so insistent on not working there how did you get offered a job? You must have known when you went for at least the one interview...

Thanks for the replies. It's all really useful information. Especially the bit about parking.
Millhouse, would love to meet for coffee

Re: What is DIFC like?
I'd rather live in JLT and commute to DIFC that the other way round, that's for certain.
Traffic would be a non-issue heading south at rush hours.

Re: What is DIFC like?
I'll pay special attention tonight.
But I commute Business Bay -> JLT for work and back in the evening.
I'm stop start pretty much from MoE onwards. Only a slight delay around Safa in the morning. (If no accidents, otherwise the trip home is a ****ing nightmare).
I'm pretty certain the the traffic in the other direction (towards and then from DIFC) is fairly free-flowing. Definitely nowhere near the volume anyway.

Re: What is DIFC like?
So last few days I've had a look.
Traffic is moving, one day it wasn't but there had been a smash.
Only place I reckon it would be busy is for the lights at WTC roundabout.
Otherwise, pretty free flowing and good.
