what a BU**ER
It's all gone tit's up, I was hoping to get out to Dubai doing electrical work at the new airport terminal, from 300 or so to 40 odd, but never made the last 30 in the final.(I now know how a Welsh rugby fan feels, they were unlucky.)
Anyhow, not to be disheartend, I was hoping for a great experience and will think of other avenues. Any ideas.

The Dubai Airport contracts are minimal now , most MEP works are subbed out to specialized contractors from the main contractor. These firms might be looking for M.E.P Project managers and Contracts managers but work of this kind is thin on the ground in Dubai.
I've worked on both projects in DXB and JXB Airport developments and all major development is almost stopped , funding is only made available for tier 1 projects.
My advice is to widen your search to Qatar and Saudi where more opportunities will be available in your field . Remember being an electrician is just not enough in this part of the world , you need a very specific discipline and also to have managerial experience and even better to have overseas experience.
Qatar and the K.S.A will offer you more of a chance to get a shout. Keep trying though and good luck !

Co Durham Boy,
thanks for the support, I was going over to do some M&E containment etc.
will keep an eye on agencies over here. Any good agencies over there, that won't rip you off.

Use the ones that are specific to your field and who know their business , there's no good having a 21 yr old agent trying to recruit you for a job he knows zero about .
Use the trade websites and specific search functions on this forum to start.
Good luck mate
