Yeah, it's my only real beef. But I'm won over in the fact it's a very different, much nicer car.

Haven't driven it yet though. Might be back to square one.

Touareg is playing on my mind.

It was the most surprising car I saw all weekend.

Leaps ahead of the Mercedes inside for example. I was shocked. Walked in ready to not like it and think it was dull but couldn't help myself.

Maybe I'm just more open minded than you lot.

Hope you're looking at a proper V8 one - or, if you can get the W12 as a 2 year old that would be immense!

Nah too pricey for the decent ones, even if they're nice.

Buying an expensive car in a place when odds of leaving in just a year or two is real enough for many people. That's all. It was one big reason for not buying the Touareg. Predicting a future in Dubai is quicksand more than not.

Yeah, but that's the same for anything isn't it? Buying a house in the UK is scary, might lose job tomorrow and then you're ****ed if you don't get another, quickly.

Having been here over 6 years, we're quite settled.
If we do have to leave we just sell the car.

Point noted though and something we had considered / discussed.

4 new cars, you must have been here at least 40 years for you to have made those four momentous, life changing decisions !!!!!!

I'm currently in the market too... buying the first motor!

Probably 2nd hand for now, what age+mileage would you say should be the maximum? I want something a bit more fruity (when in Rome ey)

I'm selling an FJ extreme, 80km, all services done, 4.5 years old. Warranty until Feb... But it's manual. Quite limited offroad use.

Can't stand the FJ, makes me think of a fridge converted into a car (Transformers style)

Recently whilst at the RTA I got speaking to the guy from expat wheels...his opinion was that the used car market was on its arse and bargains were aplenty.

You like them or loath them. The basic ones are nasty, the extreme with lift kit, bonnet scope etc is alright. Great on the road though - I had to take all the stickers off mine for the RTA test, that was a sad day.
