If you're already looking at the Prado, get the Prado. Amazing resale value. Who cares if Indian managers drive Prados, so do many westerners.

But buying one just means you can't afford a proper Land Cruiser - like people who buy XJRs couldn't afford a DB9...

Re: What? Another car thread?
I can afford to buy a nice car. I just don't care.
I came pretty close to buying a Taureg once but walked away at the last minute and got a beater Pajero for 50k. Drove it for a few years including lots of desert camping trips and sold it on for 35k and had absolutely no issues in the time I had it. I liked having that extra money dumped into my portfolio instead. But Scamp will probably get a lot more utility value out of owning a nice car than I ever will.

Resale is great, but I'm keen to have something that's at least semi-pleasant to be in.
My problem is whether to buy new or wait and wait until a second hand comes in.
Getting mine cleaned to put on Dubizzle.....I can't wait

Have a look at the Infiniti QX60, most comfortable car I've owned. If I didn't have a company-provided car, I would have bought another one.

Scamp - Are you any closer at making a decision since the initial post?

do you think he cared about our advice or was in any way going to change his opinion?
I'm not sure I could buy the same car twice though, done it once before and never liked the new one as much as the old one. My dad did the same once with a SAAB, despite the second car being brilliant.
I like to mix stuff up, new clothes, new haircuts, new cars etc. Hate consistency.

I'm not looking at help on picking a car, unless anyone can find something better for less....which I think I've covered.
Was just seeking more opinions on the options of new v used really. Not any closer to deciding. Think I'm gonna buy new and put some extra cash into it. Not going to change cars again for a while anyway so no great drama.
Ha! You cynic. I'm always interested in other people's input, thoughts or opinions....even if many are wrong.
That's the single biggest issue I have about another Explorer, but don't spoil your point by pretending to be edgy.
