Wearing Bikinis Now Illegal
In Ras Al Khaimah or so it has been reported. You have to laugh at some of the comments from Arab beach goers...I thought she was going to take her top off so I drove my family away...and look at those naked people.

good old RAK, never a place to let you down in your estimation of it as a backwards shithole.
Lovely scenery though

Alveena Salim
This is long overdue. The UAE should be more concerned with preserving their culture and heritage then trying to cater to the needs of tourists.
So Alveena care to elaborate how without tourism RAK and Dubai would survive at it contributes 30% of the GDP?

You can still buy all sorts of bikinis in most shops here. If they don't want people to wear them they might want to start by not selling them.
I find this all absurdly amusing.

...but did not specify whether trunks or swimming in white underwear was banned for men.
If I saw a guy having a wet panty competition by himself on the beach of RAK I'd assume I was well within my rights to wear a bikini. Why should it be one rule for one sex..?

So what you're saying is that this mankini was a waste of my money?

We really need to see a photo of you wearing it in order to make a considered judgement.

Re: Wearing Bikinis Now Illegal
There's a great programme on UK TV at the moment called 'Off Their Rockers' it's a prank playing programme, but the pranksters are all OAPs, last week a woman claimed she was buying a mankini for her son as a present, and persuaded a young male customer in the store to try it on for her, he did, and she got him to come out of the changing room so she could see.. he was vey embarassed, but did so. There were a lot of the other customers got their phones etc out to take photos. It's a good programme, BUT it will get very samey after a while.

Just an update on the original subject. The Police are now saying that they will not arrest/fine anybody wearing a bikini, but may ask them to leave the beach if their presence offends anybody. In other words, if an Arab complains!
