I hadn't realised that Michel Platini's son had also benefited from the Qatar World Cup fiasco. Another FIFA official is also now implicated. Surely, after the recent bribery scandal came to light, enough is enough. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/foo...-Cup-vote.html

Surely they have now killed that phrase for anyone to ever use again?

There is a massive, one metre wide, dual gas pipeline being built alongside the 311. That'll help carbon neutrality.

Maybe it's just me but it really winds me up this carbon neutral crap and how Dubai is the sustainable city. Never ever ever ever can this happen in a town in the most water stressed area of the world. In Dubai being green means planting more landscaping and burning more gas for desalination.

Dubai Municipality is planning to spend AED6bn ($1.63bn) to transform the emirate into a "green paradise" by 2025, it was reported on Wednesday.
The massive investment has been earmarked for soft landscaping and the irrigation network in Dubai, according to officials.
"We have plans for giant projects by 2025, which include the expansion of sewer lines and the irrigation network," said Salah Abdul Rahman Amiri, assistant director-general of the Municipality in comments published by news agency WAM.
"These are mainly concentrated on preparations for Expo 2020 as we want to make Dubai a green paradise," Amiri said, adding, that new legislation is also being planned to ensure that developers share the onus of expanding the green belt in the city.
Amiri said over AED3bn would be spent on improving and expanding the irrigation network by 2025, which would bolster the landscaping projects.
"We are having problems with sustainable landscaping. The challenge is mainly with water " he was quoted as saying.
Around 45 million plants were planted in 2013 and the Municipality is expecting a five to 10 percent increase, depending on upcoming projects, the report said
Up to 30 small park projects are in the pipeline to add to the green lungs of the desert city which currently boasts about 7,000 hectares of green space.

It seems like everyone was wrong, so I guess there'll be no further discussion anywhere. Mods, you may as well close this thread.

Re: WC 2022
Interesting to see him trying dismiss this as just a mistake. Given the sums of money involved in the World Cup he'd be better off saying this was a gigantic **** up.
"When asked if it was a mistake choosing the Middle East country given the high temperatures there during the summer months, Blatter said in an interview on Thursday with Swiss RTS station: “Yes, of course.”
“You know, everyone makes mistakes in life,” he added."
