I'd love a minivan, but no. 7 seats in my motor though. You'd be amazed how often we have used the back back row. |

 Roast parsnips -- the roasting frees and caramelises the natural sugars (which are there in all root veg). Carrots -- naturally sweet, especially baby ones (and more so when tossed in butter after boiling) Ratatouille -- also brings our some sweet flavours Onions -- fry them first before cooking the steak, and again you have caramelisation Pumpkin, swede, corn, chestnuts ... And sauces. Start with onions -- as you often should -- and your base is sweet. Henry Bain (ok, American, but a classic). Apple sauce (not only with pork). Most barbecue sauces. Many pickles / chutnies. Peanut sauce. Cranberry sauce. Having no contrast among the various flavours in a dish can make things very boring. |

But the whole "go to be savoury + savoury" thing doesn't stack up.

But I also agree with this. Like I also disagree with burger buns being replaced with donuts (I think that's the American spelling). |
Re: Wasabi rice crackers
Tasmanian Wild Wasabi Cheddar is divine. I love all things Wasabi. And I love sweet potato, especially sweet potato fries.

Breakfasts here are generally dreadful (other than the Korean ones, which are interesting). They've adopted the American malaise (or is it actually French) of everything being bloody sweet -- glazed croissants, croissanty-things using the wrong dough and with a random lump of chocolate in (ugh), Danish pastries. I WANT TOAST. |
