Warwickshire Police in UAE???
I have just recieved a notice which is dated on the 10th of October 2008, exceeding the temporary speed limit of 50mph at M40 J15.
And I'm in Abu Dhabi, how on earth did they get my UAE address and how on earth do they want to convict me? Did someone nominate me knowing that I got a UAE driving licence?
Are the UK police going mental? Are they that desprate on the smile camera campaign?

By the way, is it a standard "NIP"? (Notice of Intention to Prosecute). If so, it will have a series of boxes from which you are supposed to choose one, fill it in, and send the form back. In fact, under EU human rights legislation, you cannot be compelled to sign anything that might be construed as a 'confession'.
Simply write "I am unable to supply this information" in the box where you have the chance to admit to being the driver and accepting the penalty.
Worked for me, several times.

"Senior staff from NPIA recently attended Abu Dhabi Police by invitation to commemorate the 10 years partnership in the delivery of the Abu Dhabi Police Leadership programme. The NPIA delegation consisted of Shelagh O'Leary (Leadership Services Director), Kurt Eyre, (Head of the International Academy Bramshill), Superintendent Kevin Smith (Policing Advisor for Middle East and North Africa) and Superintendent Tim Meaklim (Strategic Leadership Programme Manager). Sir Ronnie Flanagan, HM Chief Inspector of Constabulary, was also in attendance representing UK Policing and responsible for delivering an address to mark this prestigious event on behalf of the NPIA Chief Executive, Peter Neyroud"
Sir Ronnie Flanagan, the British government’s senior adviser on policing and a former chief constable in Northern Ireland, has been appointed as a strategic adviser to Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, the Minister of Interior, the embassy said.

How was it sent to you, this penalty notice? To a mail address?

Basically, if you don't know who was driving, the registered keepr of the car gets the points I think.
The 14 day rule still applies - you need to have the NIP within 14 days of the alleged offence other wise its void (correct me if this has also changed...)

Wrong again I'm afraid - they simply cannot do that - indeed, they no longer even try.
Basically they are trying to intimidate you into paying up - if you resist, there's a good chance you'll succeed.
