Re: Visit to Oman
Muscat?
The Chedi is the pick of the bunch apparently although I've only stayed in the Crowne Plaza which is also quite nice. Shangri La on the coast is also meant to be boss. Not sure of any of the newer opened places.
You'll struggle to find much in the way of night life though, although if you're used to Jeddah everywhere will be awesome.
Enjoy.

Satisfying 'boom' when they close?

Re: Visit to Oman
Thanks all, I am really going for a regional meeting from 18-20, but for sanity sake I decided to stay at least until Saturday before my Saudi "parole" expires...
Thanks for all the suggestions, I will stay somewhere close to the airport.

I'll give the Crown Plaza a vote as I've stayed there quite a few times when in Muscat on business. I think theres a Trader Vics at CP, or is it at the Intercon, can't remember.
Anyways, me and Mrs Shed are at the Intercon Muscat around the 3rd week so it can't be too bad a place eh?

Rock Bottom (Ramee hotel) is one instance where you [I]can tell the book by its cover
Trader Vic's is at the Intercon. Crowne Plaza has Dukes Bar (very good fish & chips), Com Prima (Italian), Shiraz (Persian) and Tropicana (all-day buffet).

Went into Lock, Stock the other day, (after the Rugby at McG's), what a pretentious hideous place, thought it may be OK by the reviews and the like but....

Re: Visit to Oman
I had a great night in the Billionaires' Club, Taj the other day. Now that takes pretentious to another level, but somehow it was brilliant. Not that I will ever go back.

People make in pretentious, I thought the idea was spot on, but the people? I'd rather have a beer with Miss Ann LOL

Re: Visit to Oman
Lock, Stock has pretty good bar grub. American stuff but damn ain't it tasty.
I went quite a few times before making the move to Dohell and it was always a good time. Can be crowded.
Look, all bars bar none in Dubai are filled with wankers. All that matters is being with your mates and the drinks are decent and there's some fine material to ogle and who cares about the rest?
