I used to go clay pigeon and game shooting (pheasant) in the UK. It's a great way to spend an afternoon. Not many things more rewarding that the old hunter/gatherer feeling of taking home a pheasant to be hung, plucked and drawn ready for dinner another night. Eating something you've killed always tastes better. |
Re: Vietnam
ok wild game shooting i can just about live with- at least the animals stand a chance, but I'm guessing the cow that got shot by Millhouses mate was not running or frolicking across a field or running into nearby woodland for shelter like a wild deer. Instead I imagine it was stood somewhere munching on some grass thinking about daisies or whatever cows think about- and cows are massive- you'd have to be a pretty shit shot to miss a cow! hardly any skill involved its just shooting an animal for the hell of it. I dont get it. Did he take the cow home and eat it (as you would do with game birds) sick puppies if you ask me. My brother once shota worm with a air rifle- it pretty much exploded- I cried and buried the remnants- if i did that over a worm dont even get me started on cute fluffy things.

Killing an animal for food is ok but killing for fun is just wrong. Not to mention hunters aren't exactly stalking their prey with a knife, spear or old fashioned bow but are using high powered rifles or modern compound bows. Now look at these grade A POS, Donald Trump's sons. They think they are badass cause they shot an elephant and then cut its tail off. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...in-Africa.html |

Re: Vietnam
It's a quite emotive debate. I don't fully agree or disagree with killing big game for fun, particularly the likes of endangered species. But it happens. It's the same as deep sea fishing for big catches.
do you want to rephrase that scamp as it sounds to me you neither agree or disagee with hunting endangered spireces. Personally you've just gone right down in my estimations. It happens- that's your arguement? pathetic excuse for letting unacceptable behaviour continue. I don't understand why anyone feels the need to kill something else for fun- its absolutely babaric if you ask me- i feel the same about fishing, fox hunting, basically everything. YOu wnat to satisfy your caveman routes go camping. Live and let live. I'm going to go and hug a tree now. |

I'm not particularly interested in going on a hunting safari either, I'd rather go look at some hippos / elephants / tigers / lions etc chilling out and killing each other than going armed ready to kill. I don't think anything will ever change with it whilst you have people with deep enough pockets to pay to do what they want. |
Re: Vietnam
funny isnt it that its hunting that always rises the passion yet nobody ever mentions that most superkarket meat comes from animals that have had a shite life in shite conditions, killied slowly and badly, (especially here halal isnt renowned for its humane ending)
just so long as the blood and skin has been removed and its in cellophane its suddenly all all right. |

just so long as the blood and skin has been removed and its in cellophane its suddenly all all right. I have always been anti fox hunting as it is cruel and a terribly inefficient way to kill a fox. They are certainly vermin, but a fox hunt is not the way to dispatch them. Killing for sport is sick. Killing an animal to eat, quickly and humanely, is acceptable. If you want to annoy a vegetarian, ask them how they think all the milk and dairy products are produced and the side effects of that practice... |

That's very true. I am a bit of a tree hugger, but am happy to eat meat that has led a decent life and is killed humanely. Hunting deer, grouse etc to be eaten is actually better than eating most of the meat in the supermarkets that has had a lousy existence.

admittedly not here but I hunt and kill animals at home which i then eat, i consider it a sport and enjoyable. i feel its infinitely more honest than just purchasing pre packed meat, should i not consider it a sport or enjoyable? confused

I reckon it's OK to enjoy it (not that I could) provided you eat the meat afterwards and kill humanely.

Fully agree. First thing I was shown on my first day shooting was how to put a pheasant out it's misery...in about 3 different ways.
