Valentines day- Lionheart style

Re: Valentines day- Lionheart style
my dads a miserable old git to be honest- not one for sharing his emotions other than when he's angry or peed off- which is more often than not so I won't be expecting any I love you's or anything from him anytime soon.
Even when i tell him 'i love you dad', he has to change the converstation- never had an affectionate word from him, but when he first picked me up form the airport after I'd been away for 5 months he welled up when he saw me and was quite choked- first time I ever seen he cares. But thats just how he is. Old skool I guess.

He is into dog fighting? Thats the behaviour of scum. Also the whole bit about giving his wife an ankle bracelet and a ball & chain attached to it seems to be saying that she is his possesion.

Maud,
Some people just aren't open with their feelings, my dad buying a crappy bunch of flowers and a crap card for my mum says more than a thousand words as he just can't express himself. So even though he buys crappy carnations (which are my mums least favourite flower) the fact he's bought any when he is so uncomfortable to do so says alot. Not everyone wants to paint the world in red hearts and fluffy bunnies.
Valentines day for me gives people who struggle to say it a chance to express their feelings- how many people really tell their partners how dear they are to them? so why not take the opportunity- do people NOT tell their mums happy mothers day because its a commercial day now owned by florists and card companies? Of course not as its mothers day! so why not tell your loved one on valentines day?

I think he makes a good point.
Me coming home before midnight with no lipstick stains on my shirt is my supreme act of love....I even let her take off the stockings and suspenders to do the ironing and housework - wouldn't want to be too unreasonable.

I like to joke around as much as the next guy, but I don't joke about my wife.

Re: Valentines day- Lionheart style
My Mrs gets gifts / presents / nice meals cooked / dinners out all the time.
She never asks me for anything and she always appreciated all those things we do. She wants to have time with me, not 2 hours after work of my scratching my balls on the sofa. We go out to the waterparks or to the beach together so we can just chill out, chat and spend time together.
If I went home with an iPad so she'd stop playing on mine she'd tell me to take it back and stop being a dick.
Valentine's day doesn't interest her because it's a forced event or "cringeable" in her words.
I'm going to happily continue to do nice things for and with her all year each year that she'll keep me instead of shelling out AED 1,450,000 for dinner at a posh restaurant every 14th Feb.
