URGENT - Tuxedo

Gents (and maybe Ladies),

Any of you know where I can hire one last minute for a do tonight?

I know it's late notice - partly my fault, partly not but that's another story.

Help appreciated and rewarded with kind words / beer.

Didn't Spugsy ask the very same question only a few weeks ago? Do some research and you may be rewarded.

Normally is, but haven't got the time to go up to Bur Dubai / Satwa to find a place to hire one. Found one place that delivers but can't get through to them.

Might just go to MoE and buy one.

I love leaving things to the last minute. It's my favourite.

Tuxedos are declassé; get a dinner jacket.

I thought tuxedo was just the American term for a dinner jacket?

If that turns out to be true then accept my apologies.

Went and found one, with shirt, bow tie and cummerbund for 1085.

It's very far from world class but it'll do the job.

Thanks for the help.

S'why I love owning a kilt. No need for all that cummerbund nonsense....

mmm, but being only half Scottish it might be a bit fair weather to pull out a kilt with the family tartan on.

Although, a sporran would hold my wallet, phone and fags nicely

Also traditionally, in the UK, a tux infers a white jacket with dinner jacket inferring black ... Vice versa in US....

Are you sure? I've always referred to them as "white tie" and "black tie" and have never heard a native Briton referring to either as a tuxedo.

Tuxedo is american- DJ is english. Originally the DJ is black-as a less formal option to the tail coat in Edwardian times- white was added much later. Never wear a cumberband unless you're american- complete faux pas!

Oh dear. I've always worn a cummerbund. So it has to be waistcoats then.
