UK Golfer Wins US Open

Sorry its rather late but its the first time a "Brit" has won this event since Tony Jacklin back in 1970. Mind you, Great Britain is technically only England, Scotland and Wales. Its the United Kingdom which also includes Northern Ireland, so actually he is the first UK golfer rather than the first Brit to win the US Open in the last 40 years. Anyway, its nice to put one over on the USA just now.

Easy. Greg's an honary Scot. To quote him after winning his first of two Scottish titles:-

"I love tradition and so to win an event like this in the country that gave the game to the world is just a dream," Havret said. "The French Open is the most important event for me for obvious reasons, plus the majors and the PGA at Wentworth, but this would come next."

That's a difficult one...Unionists tend to say British and Nationalists tend to say "Irish", though it's not hard and fast. However, in their UKGB&NI passports (including Graeme McDowell's) it says "British Citizen" - the same as for people from any other part of the UK. So, I suppose "Brit" is OK

....... and GB&NI/UK now has 5 of the top 10 in the world rankings - and McDowell has moved up from 37 to 13 in one leap..........

And impressive web advertising set up by BE--while looking at the previous post there was an advert for how to "Improve your golf swing in minutes" at the foot of the page.

Mind you, last night I had a peep over the fence into the Trailer Park, and there's a thread there about What Food We Brits Miss, or some such; the ad at the foot of that page was for Immodium. Mmmm....
