I didn't know dog licenses had been abolished though. I need to find a another reference point when wheeling out the tried and trusted 'you need a licenses to have a dog but not to have children' line when seeing a mutant in a shell suit with a buggy full of sprogs. I also just noticed that the page on the BBC website is 5 years old! |

Dog licences were abolished years and years ago - cost more to process them than they were to buy. From memory (which has succumbed to years of abuse - ie it's been used too much lol!) it only cost 7/6d (the amount stated on the licence) when we last registered our ownership of a dog - and that was long, long after decimal currency was introduced. Go figure.

The answer to the final question is complete nonsense. Being qualified in the relevent area of the law and having no conflict of interest are far more important than a solicitor's hourly rates, which can be fiddled anyway.
