UAE vs. Caribbeans

might be weird question for this subforum, but would like to hear from anyone who lives in the ME and have visited Caribbeans.

I have an opportunity to leave UAE for another position on Bahamas....
similar money, but more booze and pork, but those things are not of my concerns..

what you would choose, what are pros and cons?

tnx

Are you joining kier ?

Anyway, I was heavily looking at St Kitts. On hindsight I regret not moving. I'd imagine the life style alot slower and relaxed. It depends what stage you are in life, if you're able to chill on the beach having a beer, without a care in the world its perfect. If you still need the 5 star life style, you'll have the resorts but not Dubai 5 star.

Bahamas has issues of its own. Some crime problems in/around Nassau. Fat American tourists wobbling around the resorts. But if you can avoid the two it can be a pretty nice and leisurely place. The outer islands like the Abacos or the Exumas are glorious.

Easy to get to Miami for some decent nightlife Latin American style.

If you've already been in the UAE for some time, sure, go for it!

I've been in the UAE/Abu Dhabi for the last 4 years, and I got an opportunity for Nassau with included accommodation and a car, but frankly, I have never been there..

I posted a question because while it might be a perfect place for a vacation, life might be different. I don't have opportunity to visit it beforehand.

People are relaxed, most of them will be tourists, some petty crime and drug dealing but thats where it stops.

Miami is right there in case you need to jump

U'll get bored... its small, outside of tourism and beaches there is nothing

However it might be what you are looking for.

I think calling them 5 star is awfully generous...

I don't live in Dubai, everyone i've met in Abu has been pleasant.

Any way, the answer to the poster is...what stage of his life is he at. Moving to the Caribbean will be a big shock as it'll be so slow

Actually, you say you can't visit before hand, I've been to Seychelles and the Caribbean they are literally the same. Fly to Seychelles and see if it's your cup of tea.
