UAE threatens to cancel French Intel. Sat. contract

UAE claims the Spy satellites the French are building for it contains American components with backdoors. So UAE is now demanding France take out the American components . UAE also is in talks with the Russians and Chinese firms regarding this Sat. matter.

Even with the removal of this particular American stuff, I bet there are other backdoors . Would be surprised if the Russians and Chinese didn't do the same thing.

Bottom line is that unless the UAE is going to indegenously develop and build satellites, they are stuck with accepting some kind of backdoors and or kill switch.

I am curious as to how the UAE concluded the Americans have a backdoor; wonder if it was just assumption based on there being American components??

It's the ME, they enjoy some backdoor action.

Of course there are backdoors, anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded.

I would be more worried about using Chinese/Russian components

I was in a meeting a few years ago with an Abu Dhabi company and eads when Abu Dhabi wanted to build these in country.

Needless to say it didn't take long for it to become apparent there was no ****ing chance of that happening!

I think the three guys who are qualified for this are already busy getting ready for the Nuclear power plant

Probably why Austrailia and America won't let Huawei anywhere near their telco infrastructure.

Anyway, who's the UAE going to be spying on? Iran? Saudi? Sharjah?

Its to do with the quality of metal / alloys being used for all the tiny connections etc

The crappier the build quality, the sooner they heat up after some time and then you start having packet loss, which basically means loss of bandwidth and internet speed goes down etc

Techincally everything is made in china so I really cant say everything they make is crap, but huwaeii, zte, tp link etc are known in our circles for packet loss

I once had to scrap a complete laid out network, atleast 24 nodes because the customer insisted on low cost while making his gaming cafe, so he put in chinese cables, connectors and the switch
after 5-6 hours of use, everything would just start lagging, and I am talking about non-internet based games i.e. 100 MBPS capable network cards etc
threw some money at the problem and everyone was back up to over 60 fps at full capacity (never touched the PCs mind you)

I'm up late, have no idea why I'm reading the ME forum, but the bolded part of your statement is categorically untrue.

How on earth does that uphold what OleJanx said? That's just a ban on bidding for NBN work. NBN is the new kid on the block in Oz and there is a plethora of telco infrastructure with Huawei equipment on it that was in existence before NBN was even a concept.

NBN will surpass the older stuff when it comes online , will it not? So OleJanx may have been thinking of what is set to become the standard Telcom infrastructure.
