more seriously though, thats all part of the deal with the west. we dont invade, support your govts etc but you gotta buy arms from our maufacturers regardless of whether you actually can or will use them. KSA is a case in point, i've never added it up but they must have thousands of us, uk, french etc made fighter jets just sitting in sheds as every year they seem to buy more and lets face it the saudi national air guard arent exactly world renowned as the largest air force on the planet, probably have enough planes for it though

yeah, sure, but that's the mentality of a supreme ruler - the whole "let them eat cake" thing.

Off-sets are creating jobs within UAE, apart from the fact that it´s actually Abu Dhabi paying for the federal army who is top-notch when it comes to equipment and firepower.
I guess some people here would be surprised to know that UAE will soon have a more sophisticated anti-missile system than UK with the new THAAD system that are able to take out missiles in space..to compliment their old HAWK and new PATRIOT system.
Why we might ask, the reason is the first gulf war. When Iraq invaded Kuwait the UAE military lacked any ability to deliver a strike for Kuwait, and the UAE leadership saw themselves very much in Kuwaits situation regarding potentially aggresive neighbours..Since then Sh. Mo bin Zayed have steadily built a military strikeforce able to inflict enormous damage all over the middle east if necessary.
