Twitter

Is it just me, or does anyone else just not get it?

Been having a look on it tonight, and to be honest, I can't see the attraction, I mean is it just status updates?

I'm feeling old.....

I could be unkind.... :sneaky:

To "get" twitter you have to use it - follow people you are interested in and know / like. it's a very personal medium, so if you just look at it it doesn't make much sense, but if you follow, say, 100 people you want to hear from then it's interesting....

It's a 2 way street - 1 way is dull - follow, post interesting stuff, engage. It's good if you can be bothered....

Tweeters, people who tweet :) yes that came out of the blue, I had absolutely no idea!!

Mindy, there is a write up on my website, An Idiot's Guide to Twitter, tells you step by step how to use Twitter and set up your account. Once it clicks with you, you will love it.

Re: Twitter

There is an awful lot of drivel on Twitter, but the trick is to only follow others with a brain who post more than 'I am drinking tea' or other such dullness. Too many teenagers and hosuewives with nothing of any relevance to say, but theycan be avoided. If you follow people locally it can be a good source of info on numerous subjects.

I use it mainly as a work tool (@FinancialUAE)

Re: Twitter

Agree, I unfollowed some recently who were just doing my head in. Mainly young Emirati women moaning about how tough life is

;) Plenty of clueless witterers on there.

I binned most of the youngsters a while back as they have no idea about real life & I have zero interest in reading about how their mum makes them help out, as if it's of earth-shattering importance. I am now pretty ruthless about unfollowing.

I don't get that. It's not obligatory. There are numerous people/accounts following me who I have no interest in following back.

Re: Twitter

I hardly use it at all to be fair- even less here as its banned at work and my life isnt as exciting as it used to be, I use it more for seeing information- great during fashion week - to be honest most of the stuff I say is absolute shite anyway!

same here, but to keep my account "tidy" I go back and have the odd clearout, it's up to them who they want to follow, it's also up to me who I choose to follow back.

Exactly, plus there are load of industry bods putting out a lot of great info that couldn't care who you are etc, seems a little silly to then drop them.
