Tourist overstay
Hello
My housemaid has just told me that her daughter's visa expired on 17th March. I thought the government had announced some kind of amnesty for expired tourist visas but she is now asking for 2k to renew her daughter's visa. Happy to pay, but trying to avoid the expense if it's possible. Does anyone know if tourist visas are being rolled-over without cost, and if so what's the process?
I can't find anything online about it - only that expired residence visas will get rolled-over.

Couldn't see much either but thought I'd seen something on it being fine to extend without having to leave:

Re: Tourist overstay
2k is probably the overstay?
200 initially + 100 per day (17th March to now is about 16ish days depending on when it ended and when it starts etc) so probably not far off 2k total if there are admin fees etc on top.

Re: Tourist overstay
The amnesty is on the visa overstay charges when you leave the country.
If you want to extend the tourist visa at immigration department (as opposed to doing a visa run to Oman) then you'll need to pony up.
So as far as I can tell, if she's not intending to go home as soon as the restrictions are lifted, it will cost you.
