A good selection if you like that sort of music, but the paucity of female and R&B performers makes the list rather meaningless in my view.

Shocker - I kind of agree - it is a very, very narrow list in terms of styles...

And how the hell did Neutral Milk Hotel get in there - like 5 people have heard that album, critically acclaimed or not....

Love some, loathe others.

Also suffered shocking realisation that the last 25 years is bloody recent in music terms.

Ditto. Made me feel quite old

Q magazine likes guitar bands and doesn't have the broadest taste. I think I own about 12 of those albums.

No, they didn't include 'The Smiths!' That really is 'Suicide Music!' - Or any Country and Western - The Devil's Gavotte!

For once I actually agree with LH.

Dr Dre Black Album
Ice Cube War and Peace
Run DMC - You Be Illin
Notorious Biggie Smalls - Ready To Die
Wu Tang Clan - The W

So many more that are classics of the genre , not to be included in All Time list is bollox. But then , it IS Q Magazine, a Kerrang wannabe. Sheesh.

Am obviously far too old ... don't even know who/what most of those on the list are. And if any of their 'music' is typical of what's heard on most radio channels (either here in Dubai or on-line) then that's fine by me. Will stick with Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Cream, ZZ Top, Stones, even Beatles, Joan Baez, Leonard Cohen, Steeleye Span etc.

There ... now you have an idea of how ancient I am ;)

Or maybe not ... perhaps it's a case of appreciating 'real' original music.

i've got well over half of those albums, but it's still a pretty odd list, i wouldn't rank some of them in the top 50 let alone top 30...

MM, xx

Ironically the bands you list are probably the main influences for many of the bands on the list...

You may actually be surprised that you would like some of them.

Try youtube to find some videos... I'd guess it's possible you would like Kings Of Leon, Muse, White Stripes or Arcade Fire.

Not on the list - but I also recommend PJ Harvey's new album "Let England Shake".

I see Radiohead feature a few times, including the top spot, a band which I've never really understood the attraction for? From what I can gather it's always been 'cool' to like Radiohead, but with the exception of 'Creep' they're pretty poor as far as I'm concerned.

At the end of the day - you like what you like.... latter Radiohead does get a bit "challenging" with unusual song structure etc.

However OK Computer I have to agree with Q - it's a phenomenal album (in my own opinion)
