Re: Today I am...... because......
Friends went to Borocay and it looked beautiful.
I didn't mind Thailand - Bangkok but once you've seen a few ping pong shows n go go bars you've pretty much seen it all. Went to Phuket for the chill out after Bangkok but it wasn't a chill out, just the same as Bangkok!
Loved Vietnam, only stayed in HCMC, well along the river Siagon it was stunning and the city crazy
Dubai - Bangkok, 1 night
Bangkok - Singapore, 2 nights
Sing - Koh Samui, 3 nights
Boat - Samui - Phagnan, 2 nights
Boat back to Samui, 4 nights
Fly Samui - Bangkok, 1 night
This year, Dubai - Manila - Cebu in one go. Then 3 hotels over 2 weeks on one island. Just so I don't go completely crazy.

Yeah, it does look the nuts, but this year I decided not to travel around too much. Last year was;
Dubai - Bangkok, 1 night
Bangkok - Singapore, 2 nights
Sing - Koh Samui, 3 nights
Boat - Samui - Phagnan, 2 nights
Boat back to Samui, 4 nights
Fly Samui - Bangkok, 1 night

Manila is one big dump really , districts cut up around a river and massively polluted . Makati is pretty cool and there's some decent stuff to get amongst.
I really liked the edge in The Philippines though , it's changed a bit now but it was as rough as a pikey's dog 20 years ago . Ermita had more murders per head than NY at one time .
Enjoy it .

but also told not to bother because it's beautiful but completely over developed.
Last year I had 4 days in Coron (Palawan island) - sourced a skipper of a boat and spent the whole time swimming/snorkelling around a mixture of many different islands and some fresh water lakes - the wildlife was spectacular - there was a World War II wreck as well.
A few years ago I spent a few nights in an old beach hut in a place called Pugapud (spelling) on Luzon island, in the north. Totally unspoilt and seemingly devoid of any tourists (apart from myself).
If you go to Manila, I can recommend a good night out, Greenbelt 2 - Spicy Fingers bar (have to get the right night, I can check if interested) a comedy band called Arpie and D Multivitamins (they used to perform here in Dubai, Jules bar), very funny and can belt out a few tunes.

Cebu's ok , i was based in Luzon so i did most of my travelling in the North . Hundred Islands , Baguio , Subic , Angleles , Mindoro and all the usual haunts , plus a bit of work thrown in

Cebu city - we've been told by colleagues not to go out at night, apparently bit dicey, few gangs, that kind of thing. Said they'll see a big fat white bloke and see dollar signs, at least in some parts.
I got told the same about Vietnam too but it's just about being safe and sensible.
Been told this as well and that it gets very crowded. Also read somewhere regarding the state of the sea there and what gets pumped into it.

Re: Today I am...... because......
Back to the original idea, today I am happy because it's the weekend coming up and I've got a busy one ahead involving beer and golf.
Today I'm also pretty pissed off because the guy I was meant to meet didn't go to the agreed place at the agreed time. I waited 40 minutes and left having sent two texts and 3 missed calls to him.
I then got a call from his 'new' number asking where I was.
Apparently doing what was agreed was my fault. #dickhead
