This email was circulated by Emirates Bank-NBD HR..... Please be advised that effective today (March 24 2009), the Dubai Police and RTA has come out with new regulations All drivers are advised to use hands free mobile phones while driving. Any one caught using mobile phones whilst driving without hands free , shall be fined Dhs. 5000/- and the vehicle shall be impounded for 15 days All are requested to advise their work force and the drivers in their respective units. :eek: |

Definitely not true. Supposedly true for Saudi and Bahrain, but not for UAE.

it wouldn't be such a bad idea though...it annoys the hell out of me when I am behind someone who suddenly slows down, suddenly breaks, swerves out...9 out of 10 times when I overtake them they are on the phone...

As far as I know, nothing has changed in this regard:
Using hand-held mobile phone while driving Fine AED200 plus 4 Black Points. However, if it affects your driving, it could be construed as Driving in a way that is dangerous to the public, in which case the fine is AED1000, plus 12 Black Points and confiscation for 30 days. |
