Three years in prison for mum who tried to sell her baby in UAE
3 years and deportation?
What's your thoughts on this, from what I see of it, I reckon she is young (22), destitute and thought (naively) that junior would have a better life with an Emirati family.
National.
All very sad, should she have been offered compassion? Or does the punishment fit the crime of human trafficking and prostitution (although the latter charge is not expanded upon).
3 years followed by deportation (and she'll have to buy her own ticket to get back or she'll stay in jail until she does).

"When I asked her why she was selling her baby, she said she was so poor, she wouldn't be able to support her back in her country, and that she needed the money to return to her country"

so she could be in jail for the rest of her life, how sad. How sad to have to sell your own child in the first place.

All to often the Dubai dream turns to hydrochloric acid and starts to eat away at you. The Chinese have a saying "All dreams die of size." I sometimes think that is true of Dubai too - Abu Dhabi always strikes me as being a bit more uptight and "proper", whatever that might translate to. Less flamboyant, perhaps?

That she can't afford a flight home and has nobody to help her.
That she felt the only option was to sell her baby.
That she got deserted by the father when he knew shit would hit the fan.
That she gets jailtime and deported only when she can pay for it (no time soon).

Given that such minor crimes are punished so severely, one can at least rest knowing that more violent crimes such as kidnapping and raping women would get a much larger sentence

Yes, being an utter twunt with an oversized ego and libido equiped with a Hummer and a sense of privilage. Fabntastic! How long do you think the stupid twunts would last in the isolation ward? What's that? 45 minutes? Hmmm.....

It's just tragic from all angles.

That she felt the only option was to sell her baby.
That she got deserted by the father when he knew shit would hit the fan.
That she gets jailtime and deported only when she can pay for it (no time soon).
