I seem to rememeber a mahoosive thread from about 2007/8 that predicted that "The Correction is coming" or something.

Is the police museum in the shape of a hat really going ahead? I am willing to bet that the rain forest never happens and can't see how the underwater (floating surely?) villas can be viable. How do you get utilities there?

Quite probably; but I have been just dipping in and out for the last few years. Now that I'm coming back, I'll pay more attention.

Funny you mentioned the utilities to the underwater things. I remember the World development...I even saw it being built when I flew in and out of DXB. I always wondered how they intended to get utlities to the islands. Did it ever get finished?

As far as I know most of it is still heaps of sand but I think there is a club/bar on one of them. Or there was for a while last year.

But you've seen it right?

It's about 3/4 of the height it will be when finished.

The main job I worked on when there last time was the Dubai Towers job in Doha, being built by Sama Dubai. It was a big hole in the ground for most of the time and the last time I saw it, it wasn't even half finished. Still not sure if it ever did get finished, and it started about 10 years ago.

I was last in Doha 12 months ago and it was still at a standstill. I asked a local consultant why it was stopped and he said that they were happy to leave it half built as it showed Dubai in a bad light! Not sure if that was true or not but i wouldn't be surprised if true
