Their own hit.....shame, as it's a pretty good tune

The solution (apparently) is to make the fences higher, it'll slow the horses down...

Interesting to see that they cordoned off one of the Grand National fences, where one horse was presumably dying under cover of a black tarpaulin sheet, and simply diverted the other horses around the fence in order to continue the race. At the Dubai World Cup meeting, they abandoned the race midway through when a horse collapsed. It says something about the value of life placed on horses by the Arab community...perhaps?

You have missed out too many variables and over-simplified. The course has become tougher and the horses are pushed to their limits. Why are so many deaths acceptable?
I haven't said it shouldn't exist - do read posts properly if you want to debate an issue. I said it should be boycotted until it is safer. Vast difference.

It's a complete myth to suggest that horses are 'pushed to the limit' - the trainers recognise at a very early stage which horses are willing to jump fences, or not. That is why so many end up in hurdles races (which have tiny fences that to an animal the size of a racehorse are like one of us stepping up onto a roadside kerb).
It's sad that some horses die, but it's very rarely because they are not capable of jumping the fences. Cruelty is the wrong word.
